phoning home [RP for Lee]
standing in the elevator
After three hellish days in detox, Abby is finally feeling well enough, relatively speaking, to settle into a routine of sorts at the inpatient rehab center she's checked herself into. Throughout the detox process, throughout the tremors, nausea, debilitating headaches, and insomnia, all she's thought of (other than having a drink) is Lee and Lily. She's cried more than she'd ever admit, missing her husband and daughter and home almost to the point that she feels it physically. She almost regrets saying she needs to do this alone, but knows she'd never be able to do it if this wasn't her decision and hers alone.

But she still needs them. More than she's ever admitted to herself before. She takes a shower, subconsciously wanting to be fresh and clean for her first allowed phonecall after a successful completion of the detox process. She makes her way from her room to the main floor where she waits, impatiently, for her allotted time slot to begin.

When she finally gets on the phone, she freezes for a moment, her fingers forgetting what to do, what numbers to dial. When she shakes herself and dials the familiar numbers of Lee's phone, she can feel her heart banging around in her chest. What can he think of her now? Maybe he won't even want to talk to her. Maybe he's relieved to be rid of her and the mess she's made of her life. She wouldn't blame him, and she can feel her palms sweating as she listens to the phone ring.

She shakes her head. Well, if you keep laughing at it...

He nods, he knows she's right but can't help laughing anyway. Gesturing at Lily, I know, I'm sorry it's just...it's funny. Wrong, totally inappropriate...but funny.

She presses her lips together, attempting not to laugh as well. Lily...that's not nice to say.

Shit. Lily offers instead and Lee has to turn his back to the two of them as his shoulders shake in silent laughter.

Lily, no. Abby frowns, shaking her head, purposely not looking at Lee or she knows she'll break out in laughter as well.

No no no no. Lily likes this game, Mama paying so much attention to her and Dada laughing.

That's right, no no no. We need to use nice words, right baby? She kisses Lily's nose.

Mama. She tries giving Abby a kiss on her nose in return, slobbering on her face.

Oh Lily...what are we going to do with you, sweetheart? He wipes at Abby's face with his sleeve.

Abby just laughs at the little girl. I've missed your kisses, Lilybug.

Bug. She rests her head on Abby's shoulder, happy to have her mother's attention after so long.

Lee continues to smile at them.
I've been getting plenty of them in your stead, trust me.

Bug, bug, bug. She repeats, turning her head to kiss Lily's forehead. Just so long as she's not kissing any other boys, just Daddy.

Does Dizzy count? He shrugs. She likes Dusty. Or is at least fascinated by his bald head.

She likes Dusty? She sounds a little incredulous at that.

Well, she let him hold her the other day. Screamed her head off when Harold tried to say hi. He smirks at that, not liking the young intern either. She was helping me fill out performance reviews.

She laughs at that. Let me guess, Harold didn't score too high?
