I need help [RP for Lee] (spoilers for tonight's ER)
standing in the elevator
After a strangely jarring conversation with the new hospital chaplain, Abby finds herself taking the elevator upstairs, to the surgical department. Making her way to her husband's office, she waffles outside the door, pacing, stalling.

It's not until she sees one of the surgical nurses casting a curious look in her direction that she knocks softly on the door, then pushes it open. She takes a deep breath, running her fingers through her hair, and lets the door close behind her as she steps into Lee's office.

She begins to speak but has to clear her throat before she tries again.
Hey...how's the leg feeling? She approaches her husband slowly, gesturing to his injured leg.

She glares at the look on his face. Hours ago, Lee. One drink. I'll drive.

He bites his lip, does he let her do this or does he persist? After looking down at the floor for a while, avoiding her gaze, he nods. All right.

She nods, looking away when he does. You shouldn't, with your leg.

Not going to have a choice. He shrugs, knowing he'll have to deal with it while she's gone, driving the least of the difficulties he'll have.

She sighs. I don't know what else you want me to say, Lee. I can keep saying I'm sorry, but that doesn't change anything.

I don't want you to keep apologizing. He balances himself carefully so that he can free a hand and place it on her shoulder. I'm trying to deal with this the best I know how. I don't know what you expect me to say or do, Abigail. You know how I feel about drinking and driving, and why.

I don't expect anything. She looks up at him, biting her lip. And I know. I'm telling the truth; I'm sober.

I did say all right, didn't I? He asks again, wondering if she wants him to distrust her for some odd reason.

She nods wordlessly. In the times she's relapsed before, she's not had someone so concerned about her, someone so close as Lee is, and she doesn't really know how to respond to that.

Are you ready to go? He asks gently, her silence only making him more concerned. He doesn't want to push her nor does he want her to suddenly change her mind about getting help, which is what he's afraid of if they delay this.

Yeah, ready. She nods, moving towards the door of his office, meaning to hold it open for him as he's on crutches. Do you have everything you need?

Yeah. He nods, making his way across the office to the door. He honestly doesn't care about anything he's brought into work with him. It will be here when he comes back.

She opens the door for him, holding it open as he exits the room before following him, letting the door shut behind her. She's anxious about what lies ahead, both at home and when she checks herself into a rehab facility.

He ignores his colleagues as they head towards the elevators. Between concentrating on uses the crutches and his thoughts on personal matters, people harassing him about the camel are the last thing he has time for.

She pushes the button for the elevator, her mind still on this mess she's created. She avoids meeting anyone's gaze, feeling exposed, even though she knows their coworkers don't know about her relapse; most don't even know about her alcoholism at all.
