I need help [RP for Lee] (spoilers for tonight's ER)
standing in the elevator
After a strangely jarring conversation with the new hospital chaplain, Abby finds herself taking the elevator upstairs, to the surgical department. Making her way to her husband's office, she waffles outside the door, pacing, stalling.

It's not until she sees one of the surgical nurses casting a curious look in her direction that she knocks softly on the door, then pushes it open. She takes a deep breath, running her fingers through her hair, and lets the door close behind her as she steps into Lee's office.

She begins to speak but has to clear her throat before she tries again.
Hey...how's the leg feeling? She approaches her husband slowly, gesturing to his injured leg.

Then I'll come home with you. I don't have to be at the conference. He starts pulling at the tape holding the IV in place again.

She has to bite her lip to keep from protesting again. How are you feeling?

Like I've been used as a camel's chew toy. He tells her honestly. And I've had enough of this anti-camel drip. I doubt I'm going to develop humps on my back or a spitting habit if I remove this.

If you think so. She looks at the bandage on his thigh. You want me to go find you some crutches?

He nods. Pants would be even more appreciated.

She nods. You have some here, or do you want a pair of scrubs?

Camel ate mine. He finishes pulling out the IV, studying the needle as he talks to her. Scrubs are fine. Want to toss this stuff for me? I think enough of the staff has seen my backside today.

She nods again, taking the needle, IV bag and pole from him as he talks. I'll be right back.

He nods, stretching out on the couch until he's in a more comfortable position. He waits until he's alone to let out a sigh full of deep relief and gratitude. Maybe things will get better after all.

She disposes of the IV supplies and finds him a pair of scrubs from the surgery supply closet before returning to his office, knocking softly before she enters.

He's pulled back his bandage, inspecting the damage the camel did to his leg and he doesn't look up when she comes back in. This is going to be an ugly scar.

She winces as she gets closer and sees the wound. Are you sure you should be going home yet?

I *could* sit here and be uncomfortable or I could go home and be uncomfortable. He shrugs. I'd rather spend the time with you. Not like there's anything to be done for an animal bite. Can't close it, infection would be sure to set in.

Okay. She nods. Want me to find you a pair of crutches, or do you want a chair?

Crutches. He refuses to sit in a wheel chair unless it's absolutely necessary. He holds his hands out for the scrubs.
